The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24 has a machined step out from the glass, not a threaded end cap. Therefore, there is nothing for the ARD to grab onto to retain itself on the end of the optic. If you are not housing the ARD inside of a dust cap (image 3), you will need to buy the 30mm Slip Over ARD.
